In which I learn balance means I won’t fall over, not that things are distributed equally

I left my laptop in the office over the weekend.

This might not seem like a big deal, but it really made me twitchy. (I suppose this could be considered ironic, as I only went in on Friday to attend a talk on Work/Life balance. Anyone out there who logs in over the weekend can just stop smirking now.) See, I like checking my email on Friday night once I get home. I usually do some work blogging stuff and more email on Sunday evening. Which is why I wound up sending myself two emails about things to blog once I got back to my work laptop behind the firewall.

So getting to work an hour later than expected this morning thanks to the ‘we don’t communicate well enough to tell you why’ MBTA was excruciating. I need to stop pretending I think it is perfectly okay for me to sign off the corporate network for 48+ hours unless I’m vacation, because, clearly, it isn’t.

I draw the line at getting a crackberry, though. Those things are electronic leashes.
