Flock Test Post
For everyone wondering what the hell I’m talking about, I just installed Flock, that new “social browser” all the cool kids have been talking about, on my PowerBook.
No, this doesn’t make me a cool kid — just geeky enough to be on the flock-announce list and see they released to beta a little over an hour ago. I’ll probably install it on the ThinkPad, too, and configure it to post to the behind-the-firewall blog.
Why am I bothering? Aren’t Firefox (on PC), Safari, and Camino enough?
Well, no. I live in the browser, and this one supposedly has fun tools (like this blogging editor) I want to try out. I’ll let you know how it goes. In case this blog goes temporarily dark or deranged-looking, or the del.icio.us links in the sidebar disappear, now you’ll know why — that’s the risk of playing with not ready for primetime but ready for playtime software. I’ve got my fingers crossed.
Update: Flock did unhappy things with the code. Specifically: I’m used to using <p> tags, can’t help it — and it just displayed them instead of rendering as code. Ugh. It makes it super-easy to append technorati tags, which would be great if I used them, but I don’t, I use my own category tags. It is possible I am too snickety to use a browser-based tool for writing posts. Text editors rule.
