“Do you want a happy zombie story or a sad zombie story?”
Is there a better way for a book reading to start than that? No. Kelly Link clearly knows what she is doing.
After hearing part of the zombie story (the happy one is longer, so she didn’t finish it) I knew I’d buy the book — Magic for Beginners — that it was in. I had a strong suspicion I’d buy it anyway, because I loved Stranger Things Happen, but the funniness of the zombie story clinched it.
One of the other stories in the book, “The Faery Handbag” is online. Go read it if you like Scrabble, story-telling Grandmas, possibly made-up languages, or magic.
