On the internet, everyone is a freak.
With Google you can find just about anything: the weird, the practical, the informative, even the illegal. But some of the most entertaining stuff is the kind of thing you would never go looking for, and only stumble across. [In fact, the human need for serendipity may be why blogs exist.] Without the internet, only an ultra-select few would be aware of:
Baking cakes in the form of human insides: “I say if you’re going to make an edible, anatomically correct chest cavity dessert tray, you might as well do it right!” [via Neil Gaiman]
Stain-removal properties of poisonous snakes: “I can imagine that people might not warm to the idea of using a component from snake venom to clean their clothes.” [via Mirabilis]
Boxbots: two-dimensional robots made from consumer goods packaging, like cereal, office folders, and Chiclets boxes. [via Non, c'est réalité]
Various photography projects: the 1095 project, as of late featuring corpse-like, naked-hind-end photographs; the Parking Spots site has nothing but photos of toy cars next to real ones; a whole site dedicated to people posing in someone’s made-up word, phoon; and the ultimate time-suck, ratemykitten.com.
